Shopping
Shops are generally open from 10.00 to 18.00 on weekdays, and from 10.00 to 17.00 on Saturdays. Most shops in the Old Town are open on Sundays. Larger department stores are generally open every day from 10.00 to 20.00.
Favourite souvenirs from Estonia include hand - knit sweaters, stained glass ceramics, CD - s with Estonian music, leather and wooden handicrafts, local art, hand -made jewellery, chocolate, marchpane and liquor "Vana Tallinn".
Most larger shops and stores accept Visa, MasterCard and EuroCard.
Duty - free import of goods to Estonia:
In addition to personal effects a traveller entering Estonia may bring in goods within the following duty-free limits per one calendar day:
manufactured goods with the total value not over 5000 Estonian krones (except vehicles);
foodstuffs with the total quantity not exceeding 10 kg, whereas the aggregate quantity of coffee, tea, spices, seeds etc. must not exceed 3 kg out of the total allowable amount;
alcoholic beverages: persons aged 18 years or over: 11 over 22% vol or 2 I up to 22% vol and 2 I of wine
tobacco and tobacco products: persons aged 18 years or over: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco products. Import of excess amounts of tobacco, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages is prohibited and shall be subject to confiscation;
engine fuel and engine oil. In addition to the fuel that the standard fuel tank contains and the oil in the engine a traveller is allowed to bring in 10 I of fuel and 5 I of engine oil per vehicle. Import of excess amounts is prohibited.

Banking
Banks are plentiful and easy to find in Tallinn. Most are open from 9.00 to 18.00 on weekdays, while some offices are also open on Saturday mornings. All banks offer currency exchange services. Exchange offices can also be found in larger hotels, the airport, harbour, rail station and major shopping centres.
Credit cards and traveller's cheques
Most larger hotels, shops, stores and restaurants accept Visa, MasterCard, EuroCard, Diner's Club and American Express. However, it is advisable to carry some Estonian kroons with you.
Traveller's cheques can be exchanged in most banks but are less likely to be accepted in shops. Eurocheque is most widely accepted travellers cheque, but American Express and Thomas Cook are also accepted.
Post offices
Post offices are usually open from 9.00 to 18.00 on weekdays and from 9.00 to 15.00 on Saturdays. Tallinn's Central Post Office is located in the centre, at Narva mnt.1, and is open Mon. - Fr. 7.30 - 20.00, Sat. 8.00 -18.00, Sun 8.00-15.00
